Throughout 2019, Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) has been marking their 50th Anniversary and on 23 October 2019 HRH The Princess Royal, President of the RDA joined the RDA Supra Conference held at Ingliston Country Club, hosted by RDA West Central and Scotland Region. On arrival Her Royal Highness by received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Renfrewshire, Colonel Peter McCarthy and Chair of Riding for the Disabled Association, Mrs Sarah Heynen.

During the conference Her Royal Highness saw some informative talks and demonstrations on the care and wellbeing of horses for the continued improvement of both horses and riders. Her Royal Highness also presented 14 volunteers with long time service awards, representing an extraordinary 470 years of service between them.  In addition, 5 volunteers were recognised for their outstanding contributions throughout the year receiving Volunteers of the Year awards and Over & Above awards.

Before departing, The Princess Royal addressed the conference, reflecting on the success of RDA and emphasising the strong foundations created over the last 50 years that now provide a sound platform to build on for an exciting future.
