Assisted by Alan Sorensen DL and Mary Jane Bird DL (both of whom did the KAVS assessment) at the presentation of the Kings Award for Voluntary Service to the wonderful volunteers of 77th Glasgow (Disabled) Scout Group, part of Eastwood Scouting District. This inspirational group of more than 100 volunteers ensures that 50 young people are able to experience a close to normal scouting experience, despite having a variety of disabilities, many of them requiring complex levels of support. Lead Volunteer Ross Syme accepted the Award on behalf of the group and Elaine Ferguson, Chair of Trustees accepted the KAVS Certificate. The evening was both uplifting and deeply humbling and a great example of where the Lieutenancy is able to make a real difference in helping to recognise and celebrate the outstanding service given by volunteers across the community. Thanks to Alan Sorensen for these great photographs, which capture the mood of the evening beautifully.
