A marvellous celebration took place today at Johnstone Day Care Centre with dozens of locals, Paisley Sea Cadets, a VE Day cake and a replica Anderson Shelter made by Houston Men’s Shed. Extracts were read from a memoire written by Mrs Janet McLean of her recollections from WW2 Mrs McLean will be celebrating her 100th birthday on 22 May 2025. The final VE Day ceremony took place in Inverclyde with the Beacon-lighting at the Lyle Hill, organised and hosted by the Inverclyde Veterans Network. The ceremony was a fitting end to the day with great speakers, a piper and even an an opera singer!
